Parables about the value of the kingdom

This week we will look at the parables of the hidden treasure and pearl that Jesus uses to teach us about the Kingdom of Heaven. These parables are twin parables, just like the parables of the mustard seed and the yeast that we looked at last time. But whereas the twin parables of the mustard seed and the yeast taught us about the growth of the kingdom, the twin parables of the treasure and the pearl teach us about the value of the kingdom. Nothing is more important than the kingdom of God. Nothing has greater value than the kingdom of God. If you have encountered the tangible kingdom, the cost of searching for it or obtaining is made redundant or insignificant and we'd give anything to have the kingdom. So where are you treasure hunting? And how much do you value God's kingdom that you'd be willing to give everything for it?
