As we continue our journey with Jesus to the cross, we come to this watershed moment in human history. We come to this place where what is anticipated in the Old Testament celebration of the Passover is realized here in the institution of the Lord’s Supper. Here we see that Jesus himself is the true Passover Lamb. Here is a passage which does not really have practical application as the best goal, but for it to capture our hearts with a sense of wonder over our Saviour Jesus. We become participants in the story as we see ourselves as desperate sinners, in need of rescuing & in need of God’s divine grace. It’s why we will also celebrate this moment together as we partake of the Lord’s Supper together, as commanded by Jesus.
